Review of the implementation of Transforming Care

WIHSC is pleased to announce that we have been commissioned by the National Leadership and Innovation Agency for Healthcare to conduct an evaluation into the implementation of the Transforming Care initiative in Wales.

Our work will consist of a series of interviews with local leaders and other stakeholders, an online questionnaire to all the Transforming Care ‘sites’ across Wales and some visits to these places to see Transforming Care ‘in practice’. Read a summary of the methodology for the evaluation.

Aspirin for the older person: report of a meeting at the Royal Society of Medicine, London, 3rd November 2011

On November 23rd 2011, Professor Marcus Longley attended a conference held by the Aspirin Foundation at the Royal Society of Medicine in London to review current thinking on the potential role of aspirin in preventing cardiovascular disease and reducing the risk of cancer in older people. The meeting was supported by Bayer Pharma AG and Novacyl.

WIHSC Senior Fellow appointed as Academic Facilitator to the RCBC Wales Community of Scholars

Dr Mark Llewellyn has been appointed as the new Academic Facilitator to the Research Capacity Building Collaboration (RCBC) Wales ‘Community of Scholars’, which was formed in September 2006. The purpose of the Community of Scholars is to facilitate interaction and collaboration between PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows and their supervisors and mentors. It meets regularly for the purposes of networking, training, free exchange of research ideas and debate.
